Some things about Me: Hello from Formosa!

Taiwan is so freaking humid and hot. Can't go out for a minute without sweatIng buckets. A little jetlagged. Slept at 9:30pm and got up at 5. It's 6:45 right now...

There are a ton of people. Very hard to match names and faces.

It seems like I'm the only gay guy here and it's a little disappoining lol

there are a few hotties here though. One of my roomates is absolutely beautiful but straight m pretty sure :(

hopefully in a few days I'll fnd me some homos

I'm gonna stop ring now cuz typing on iPhone is very frustrating.

What did you come out as? bi, but leaning towards gay
What other words would you use to describe yourself? gentle, picky, mellow, good natured, compassionate, sensitive, gullible, dreamy, impatient at times, overthinker.
How old were you when you first realized your identity? 15 or 16, but I knew I was different around age 7
How old were you when you first told someone? 18
Did you plan it? If so, how? No. A gay friend (that I had made a month earlier) asked and at the time I was just tired of being in the closet so I told him. The first person I am close to was my younger brother (by 1.5 years). I planned it. We were meeting our parents at a restaurant and I was driving and I just told him.
What made you choose that person to tell? He's my brother and I consider him one of my best friends. He's open-minded and is very easygoing.
Can you remember exactly what you said? "Hey, I think I'm bi, or possibly gay"
How did you feel? Nervous and suffocating at first, but very happy and relieved afterwards.
What was the person’s reaction? Quiet at first, but only because he was thinking of what to say. And it was very positive.
What did they say? He said, "Well, ok, but that doesn't change anything. You're my brother and I'll always love you no matter what. Drive faster I'm hungry."
What was your relationship with the person like afterwards? Awkward for a good 10 minutes and then it was back to the same.
What’s it like now? The same, if not closer.
If you’ve been outed unwillingly, who did it? My freshman year roommate.
What happened? He told all his Christian friends. His defense was that a few of them used the word "gay" in a negative fashion and he stood up against the connotation and when they accused him of being gay he told them his roommate (me) was.
What were peoples’ reactions? I could care less. If it bothers them then I don't want to deal with them.
If you’ve experienced homophobia etc, please give an example. Not directly at me, but the usual "FAG!" is often heard. My BF's freshman year roommate told him that if his roommate was gay he'd kill him (this was before he found out his roommate[the bf] was gay)
Since coming out, how “out” are you in the following areas of your life:
Educational institution: pretty much all out, but not advertising myself
Job: n/a
Family: I've come out to my brother, mom, cousin, aunt, and a few godsiblings.
Friends: a few from high school, most in college
What does being out mean to you? Being comfortable walking around in your own shoes and not being afraid to show them off.
What differences, if any, did your cultural background make to your experience of coming out? Not much really.
What does the concept of the closet mean to you? Maybe knowing who you are, but not letting others know the real you. Lying to yourself and others when confronted about your sexuality. Hiding your true feelings. Closets aren't for extremely fabulous clothes.
What advice would you give someone wanting to come out? You are not alone. You probably know someone who is in the same position as you! Find someone you can trust (a teacher, or friend, or family member...)
If you could do it all again, would you do it any differently? If so, how? If I knew it was so easy I woulda done it WAY earlier. Like middle school. But then again, my parents and teachers never spoke to me about being gay. That would have helped tremendously.
